Originally relelased on the Moondog label in 1955.

The two Columbia albums.

Originally released by Epic in 1953.

The first disc is an anthology of the music Moondog made in Germany, after moving there in 1974. The second is a recording of his last concert, on 1 August 1999. Excellent notes and photographs.

‘*****’ The Guardian, Time Out; ’ utterly out of time’, The Guardian; ‘utterly contemporary’, Time Out; ‘utterly brilliant’, The Independent On Sunday.

Startlingly restored at Abbey Road — two key albums summing up the 1950s, when Moondog was homeless and busking in NYC. ‘His later records may be better known, but this is the real shit’ (Byron Coley, The Wire).

Originally out in 1977, his first release after moving to Germany. Layered song-cycles, tribal percussion. Some lovely celesta experiments, like the opener; some cheerless pipe-organ, to close.
