Sun Ra
Space Aura

ART YARD

Live in 1966, beamed down the same year as Strange Strings and Nothing Is. Ra's creep-show clavioline; Gilmore, Pat Patrick and Marshall Allen all outstanding. Fabulous sound, beautifully re-mastered.

Sun Ra On Jupiter
From 1979, and including UFO rumbustious disco, Arkestra-style, with solos from John Gilmore, Taylor Richardson, and Michael Ray (who also mixed the album, layering in pre-recorded material).

Sun Ra Sleeping Beauty
A 1979 studio recording one of Sun Ra's best-loved, funkiest records with John Gilmore at his greatest, and a bigger Arkestra than had just played the Moers festival. Vinyl from Kindred Spirits.

Sun Ra Disco 3000
Italy, 1978: John Gilmore, trumpeter Michael Ray, drummer Luqman Ali, Sun Ra on keyboards including a Crumar Mainman ('like a piano, organ, clavichord, cello, violin and brass instruments,' according to Ra).

Sun Ra Cosmo Earth Fantasy
Two marvellous early-70s Saturns CEF and 'Sub Underground Series' ranging from lovely, intimate NY material (from 1962) to a 1974 live show, to the amazing titular Strange Strings variant, circa 1968.

Sun Ra Wake Up Angels
Live at the Ann Arbor Festival, 1972, 73 and 74. Firing versions of old favourites, with decent sound, tons of drama, space chants, way-out Ra electronics and roaring John Gilmore.

Sun Ra Space Probe
Ra on Moog, Gilmore and Marshall, Thea Barbara singing, James Jacson on log drums, Nimrod Hunt hand drums. The Space Probe LP plus unreleased out-takes from the Secrets Of The Sun and When Sun Comes Out sessions.

Sun Ra Nidhamu And Dark Myth Equation Visitation
Three LPs and some unissued stuff from an impulsive trip to Egypt in 1971, when Brigadier Salah Ragab requisitioned instruments from the army. Featuring moog and June Tyson on some great out rambles and groovers.

Sun Ra Horizon
The full band live in Egypt, in 1971, featuring Ra's astounding moog-playing and drum orgies galore.

Sun Ra Media Dreams
Sun Ra (piano organ, moog, rhythm machine, vocals), John Gilmore (tenor sax, drums, vocals), Luqman Ali (drums, vocals), Michael Ray (trumpet, vocals) the companion to Disco 3000.

Sun Ra Beyond The Purple Star Zone
Recorded during a residency at the Detroit Jazz Center in the last week of 1980. Rocket Number Nine is a composite of great Arkestra songs and Ra poetry; the title track a french horn trio, with percussion.
